This Week’s War: 90

Fine meeting in the Town Hall in the evening. It was feared there would be organised interruptions, but not a single person in the meeting showed any hostility. I fancy the total failure of the pro-war socialist crowd last Sunday took the heart out of the opposition. Their meeting was widely advertised…but the hall which seats 3000 contained only some 200!

April 23rd 1916. Diary entry of John Bruce Glasier, socialist and pacifist [Glasier Papers GP2/1/23]. This week’s war: 90.
